Is Social Media Making Us Less Social?

Here is a question, is social media making us less social? In recent times one tends to ask questions whether the media is not as interactive and losing its importance with the modern world. This is speaking primarily about some major players behind the scenes who are no longer open but are more professional. Many people across the globe have become members of this personal site that has taken over.

It is astounding to note the level at which the online world grew in recent times. The interactive network is considered as the fastest growth online. Communication with persons worldwide leaped manifold by the using this medium. All it ensures is to be connected, no matter where they are.

What kicked off as a smart medium for interaction among peers is now an advertising method among members at large. Many businesses believe that this kind of medium cannot ever fail as it turns out to be a win-win situation for all whosoever is associated with it.

On looking at these sites carefully one notices that business promotions are more rampant than any meaningful interaction with family or friends. A number of interactive websites are developed and millions of people join them monthly. Interestingly, we see a gradual decline in these numbers now.

Statistics prove that the figure dropped from 13.6 million in April to 11.8 million in the following months. It is noticed that gradually the number of persons joining such interactive websites are decreasing. The huge dip in traffic cannot be just overlooked. A number of persons are doing away with their memberships and attrition is hitting websites in a bad way each month.

Most of these websites are flooded with advertisements, web links and surveys that are not relevant general member. It becomes quite cumbersome for persons to go through these promotional activities posted by businesses and begin interacting with those close to them.

However one good thing is that the said decline in new memberships is still not very significant as yet but the alarm has already been set off. Experts on this matter decipher that due to the lack of personal interactions, this kind of sites are losing ground.

It is regardless to say that information that serves a purpose to members will make them want to stay in the long run. This site should not at all be used for advertising intentions and should focus on content like photos, videos and messages to the loved ones. It is necessary to strike a balance between the personal and business interactions.

  1. If you want to improve your knowledge simply keep visiting this web site and be updated with the most recent gossip posted here.

  2. Some people say that social media can sever the lines of personal communication and exchange between people. But for some, this technology can actually bridge the gap between two people. One example is the reuniting of long-lost high school classmates. These can also connect people with the same interest and beliefs.

  11. Personally, I don’t make a huge effort to be social with my connections on social media, I just get thousands of them, and hope that they click on my links. I don’t have the time to engage them much more than that.

  12. Hello friends, its an impressive post on the topic of tutoring and fully defined, keep it up all the time.

  13. I don’t think like that! That social media is making us Less Social i am a Marketer and i know how i can engage with people on Social Media Channels to keep active my page or account i am working on :)

  15. Your title does social media make us less social really got my attention. It’s funny how people choose to communicate by a Facebook wall message instead of picking up the phone or seeing someone in person know. Facebook is nice for showing all your friends photos or sending a group invite for an event etc.. Obviously Facebook is nice to build online credibility if you are a business owner. Some people get obsessed with Facebook. My advise is you don’t need to be on Facebook all day. Still try to connect with people individually in person and by phone.

  16. Social Media sites are not only for people who want to get connected with their friends and relatives, these sites are good source of advertising also like making business page on Facebook.com will enable the users to get connected to local customers and improve traffic on their websites and grow efficiently. their should be limit on advertising on user profile otherwise it will decrease the user experience.

  17. It can be very stressful to start an online business. The only way to run a successful online business is to market your business effectively.

  18. If you talk about friendship and one to one connection, I guess you are absolutely right but at the same time I would say Social media is a good platform to Market your business and it may generate good business.

    Thanks!!
